The Good :

Quote:
Carl Jones, director of global business development at Crytek, said that Crysis 2 will have lower system requirements and better graphics than the original Crysis PC game.

The Bad :

Until developers
take advantage of hardware accelerated tessellation however, the 5870 still gives a GTX 480 incredible competition for being over six months old.

NVIDIA has amazing drivers though. Actually I heard the latest driver was pulled back because it was frying the GPU. But overall, Nvidia has very good driver support. I usually go to update my GTX285 every month, and I usually find a new version. But I'm now running drivers from January because I don't need a possible frying problem.

My flag will stay with Nvidia most likely. ;)

It looks like a bang for your buck imo.

I'm hoping Nvidia will not have there new cards over priced... and i'm an impatient guy to wait a few months for prices to drop :D.

And ye my 295 was recked in the H50 leak with a pci-e slot ruined :(.

The HD5970 Sapphire is actually 3 GPUs in one. Three fans, and 22,000 on the 3D Mark Vantage benchmark.

Actually, the sapphire, which I also have my eye on, is still only 2 GPUs on 1 PCB, it simply has 3 fans. The ATI 5970 enhanced, which this and the ares is based on, doubles the memory and ups the clocks, but still 2 GPUs.

Oh my bad. I figured three fans would mean three GPU's to cool. Instead the extra fan is so you can overclock like crazy. :)

Yes exactly. In order to keep these cards within ATX specifications, they can't allow them to draw more than 300 watts. So the 5970s are proving to be some terrific over clockers due to being underclocked in order to meet spec.

I am still praying nvidia has a major surprise for us on the 26th. I am praying the rumors of an overpriced, under performing card are false.

I hope the GTX 480 will cost around 600 or 700 euros.

well the benches dont say shit, it is a synthetic benchmark, not actual game, i have yet to see what it does when you start blowing up sit in crysis 2 on ultra high, then compare it

also the bench was designed when the only available cards, maybe even WIP cards that they could get engineering sample were the ATI 5000 series. so it could be in there advantage.

i wait until the drivers are good and actual recent game benchmarks show up before making judgements

guys: if this IS true, and in DX10 games 5870=GTX480 with a very very small difference there is no way they can sell it for 600 as the 5870 is supposed to go for around 350 or less
